These charges do NOT INCLUDE any Taxes or Duty that may be required and along with that and exchange rate the COSTS could be significantly more. These costs are passed on to the person ordering. Q
Do I need to assemble my AutoFloorGuard?   Back to top
A
NO. Each AFG comes fully assembled all you need to do is open the box and unfold mat and it is ready to use. Please see other posts regarding wrinkles the mats may have.

Q
What Does AutoFloorGuard Offer in way of sizes?  Back to top
A

In-Stock AFG’s come in 3 sizes:

Compact (Blue Box) AFG is approximately 7’9” x 16’ = 124 sq. ft.

Mid-Size (Red Box) AFG is approximately 7’9” x 18’ = 139.5 sq. ft.

SUV/Truck (Green Box) AFG is approximately 8’6” x 20’ = 170 sq. ft.

Each of these AFG’s come with an oversized finished 1.25” Closed CellFoam Containment edge. AFG mats in retail boxes are currently made overseas.

Custom size AFG’s are made to orderand each come with large finished 1.40” Containment edge. Fabric material is a slightly higher quality than our in-stock products. Each custom size AFG is made byhand in our Toledo, Ohio factory. Box size and weight is dependent on AFG size. Remember Custom size AFG’s can take up to two weeks (up to 3 weeks in mid winter and around the Christmas holidays to ship after the order is received. *Custom size mats should only be ordered in ½ foot increments (example8.5’ = 8’6”). If you order a custom size mat and either a Compact, Mid-size or SUV-Truck mat (multiple mats in single order) we will make all the mats in our Ohio factory to make sure we match up fabric quality. If you order a custommat first and then add another standard or premium mat later YOU must let usknow prior to shipment so we can send out a matching quality fabric mat. IMPORTANT NOTE: We cannot replace an in-stock mat previously purchased if you add a custom order at a later date.

Q
Which side is supposed to be up?  Back to top
A
AFG mats should be placed with seam side down. The logo should be on the non seam side. Just a note, you can use AFG mat on either side but most people like the seam side down.

Q
What Colors are available?  Back to top
A
Black – AutoFloorGuard’s only color no matter if you order Compact, Mid-Size, SUV/Truck or a Custom size.

Q
What size AFG do I need?  Back to top
A
How do you find what AFG fits your vehicle? Just visit the home page of our website and put in your manufacturer, make, and model and it will tell you what product fits the closest to your vehicle size. This is not a perfect science so use with caution. The other factors you may want to consider:

1. Length and width of Garage (Can in-stock AFG's fit?)

2. Are you trying to fit two AFG's into your Garage? (Will they overlap?)

3. Stuff in the Garage (how tight do I need witdth and length to be to fit?)

4. Height of Vehicle (if snow falls off my car is it going to splash over containment edge?)

5. What side do people get out of the car? (What side of car can I cheat on?)

The good news is, that even if we do not have an in-stock AFG to fit your situation we can custom make one that will!

Q
What applications is this product designed for?  Back to top
A
AutoFloorGuard mats are designed for commercial/residential use ingarages, workshops, showrooms, warehouses, construction sites, offices, aircraft hangars and where quick portable coverage is needed to prevent moisture and stains from damaging your floor or other important items. AFG’s are also great for Classic Car guys to stop vehicle fluids dropping on the floor or even stop moisture from coming up from concrete floor.

Q
What tools are needed for installation?  Back to top
A
No special tools are required just be careful when you open the box not to use a sharp object which could cut the fabric and void any warranty.

Q
I opened the box and the AFG has some creases and wrinkles in the fabric. Do they go away?  Back to top
A

AFG’s heavy-duty fabric will need to relax after it has been in the box since manufacturing. The best way to do this (if possible) is to put AFG on driveway or grass and let the sun warm it up. This will relax the fabric a little and should look great. Liquid in the mat will also help push the fabric out slightly NOTE: Not all wrinkles will disappear as thefabric is pulled when heat sealing the seams.

Q
Why is my Custom Size Floor Guard pricing higher per sq. ft. for mats over 400 sq. ft.?  Back to top
A
The reason for this price increase is the shipping costs related to sending a mat of these sizes.

Q
Why is my AutoFloorGuard finished size slightly different than ordered or what is said on the box?   Back to top
A
Each AFG mat is cut and the foam edges are heat sealed by hand. This process can adjust the finished size slightly depending on how the fabric reacts to the heat as it is sealed. Compact, Mid-Size, SUV-Truck and Custom finished sizes are NOT guaranteed to be the exact size ordered. There may be slight length and width differences in the finished product but we try to be as close as possible.

Q
Is there any special prep work required before installation?  Back to top
A
Sweeping or the blowing the floor prior to installation is recommended. Make sure you do not have any sharp edges or old paint/caulk that could cause indentations in the mat.

Q
How do the raised edges stand up to constant tires driving over them?  Back to top
A

Our specially designed edges are made of either 1.18” (in-stock) or 1.25” (custom) round high density closed cell foam that keeps its shape even after driving over it. If the foam on either end begins to lose firmness, simply rotate mat front-to-back. Finished edges are slightly larger than foam size because it is finished.

Q
Does the floor have anti-slip properties?  Back to top
A
NO, all users must be extremely careful when surface is wet.

Q
Does this AFG provide insulation?  Back to top
A
AFG does not provide any insulation protection, but it does provide a vapor barrier to stop moisture from coming up from the floor directly onto items like classic cars.

Q
Will moisture, oil, snow or mud be able to leak thru?  Back to top
A
AFG’s reinforced heat-sealed watertight seams and our commercial grade PVC fabric will not allow liquids to leak thru.

Q
My corners are not 100% sealed and I can see the foam...will this leak?  Back to top
A

AFG’s reinforced heat-sealed watertight seams. When the foam edges get to the corners it is not necessary to have the corners100% welded. Since the seam side is down where the corners meet the corner will be off the ground thus protecting the corners. It is also hard to 100% seal thecorners and fold the AFG properly.

Q
How should we clean/maintain the product?   Back to top
A
A cleaner surface helps maintain a longer life for AFG. Clean the mat daily with a soft bristle broom, mop, or squeegee. We recommend keeping the edge of the AFG mat right before garage door near the threshold and hosing the AFG with a mild kitchen detergent to remove dirt and debris. If mat is soiled with oil and other chemicals please use proper disposal, (check with your local government).

Q
My AFG has a rip/tear in it. Can I fix it?   Back to top
A
Yes, you can. We have tested a simple repair method using a readily available patch called Tear-Aid Type B (available from Amazon). The best way to repair a tear or rip in your AFG is to follow the instructions on Tear-Aid Type B patch. Clean the effected area with rubbing alcohol and let dry, then place on patch (slightly larger than tear) on each side of the mat.

Q
Can the Mats be used outdoors?   Back to top
A
Yes, however even though AutoFloorGuard Mats are infused with a UV-inhibitor prolonged sun exposure can cause color fading.

Q
How does AutoFloorGuard Compare to the Competition?  Back to top
A
There are few products on the market that seem to be currently used the most and here is the difference between them.

  • AFG uses a rectangle design to cover more spillage area
  • 3 In-stock sizes that cover 95% of the Automobiles in the market
  • AFG has the best Fabric (our product looks and performs better than the competition see more detail below)
  • AFG offers Custom Size products made in our Ohio factory
  • Simple Installation roll it out and it is ready to use (no parts to put together)
  • Simple Storage (no parts to take apart…theirs is not easy)
  • Not Polyvinyl Material (which is a sheet product and you have to put plastic side edges on)

Q
It is confusing comparing other products because some companies use ounce weight (fabric) and others use thickness (Polyvinyl) how do I compare?  Back to top
A
AFG has been in the business of making Custom Truck tarps for years. With this experience we use the best Fabric in market in terms of Strength and Flexibility for AFG that has proven to hold up to all the elements. Fabric is measured in ounces per yard and polyvinyl is measured in thickness or mils. Polyvinyl however is easier to compare with other polyvinyl products because 50 mils is thicker than 30 mils and it should perform better on a flat surface. AFG uses the finest 18 oz. fabric in the business. Our fabric is constructed of Polyester Scrim and ran thru a coating process that allows for the PVC to coat and intertwine with the polyester strands and makes it super strong and durable.

Q
So there is another company that came out with a fabric floor guard how is yours different then others?   Back to top
A
AFG uses the finest 18 oz. fabric in the business. Our fabric is constructed of Polyester Scrim and ran thru a coating process that allows for the PVC to coat and intertwine with the polyester strands and makes it super strong and durable. A new player in the market came out with an oval fabric mat that is 8’ wide by 18’ long. Their Fabric specifications are 10 oz. and we are 18 oz. a huge quality difference! We own a commercial truck tarp company and we know the quality of fabrics and our 18 oz fabric will outperform theirs bar none. But I think the alarm bells should go off when you look at how much their fabric mat weights…6 lbs. Wow our similar size Mid-size mat is 24 lbs. Even our smaller AFG Compact is over 3 times heavier than theirs!

Q
Is a 30-50 mil Polyvinyl mat (like BLT and Park Smart mat) better than a AFG durable high quality 18 oz. fabric material?   Back to top
A
We say you cannot even compare quality by those numbers. If Polyvinyl were better than fabric why wouldn't truckers use it on their trucks? That is because it is a sheet product vs. fabric product. A good fabric material should be more durable and flexible in all weather conditions than a sheet of polyvinyl.

Q
I left my car parked on the edge I drive in from and it doesn't seen to have as good as an edge as it used to...how can I fix that?  Back to top
A
The first idea would be to rotate the AFG from Front-to-back so the front end would now be closest to the garage threshold. Depending on what model of AFG you have you may be able to simply remove the old foam from the damaged edge or use an old garden hose and put it into the sleeve that was holding the foam edge.

Q
How long does it take to get my custom AFG?   Back to top
A
When a custom order is placed it may take up to 21 business days (During Peak Times of December thru January) for us to make your custom size AFG and ship out. We ship out of our Nothern Ohio factory and we ship FedEx ground. When you get your custom AFG it will be in a plain box with an AFG label on it telling you the size on the label.
